Blogging From Maine

We're here in Portland. Arrived early Saturday morning and so far we've done a lot of driving around, walking around, and eating. Portland has a lot of really nice little shops filled with pottery, artwork, jewelry, crafts, etc. With the exception of a big cruise ship that arrived yesterday with lots of people and departed several hours later, there are few tourists. Our hotel is right on the waterfront, although I'm disappointed that there isn't a balcony where we can sit and watch the boats.

The weather is really fine and over the next few days it's supposed to be warmer than usual. Perfect weather for eating outdoors on the water. All the waterfront restaurants have outdoor decks. We've had lobster rolls, steamed lobster in the shell, clam chowder, clam rolls, and more lobster. Beer is big here -- there are lots of micro-breweries. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but they do have delicious bloody mary's.

We don't have a definite itinerary, but we're planning to take some day trips. I think we will go to Freeport today; maybe Kennbunkport tomorrow. I also want to take one of the Casco Bay cruises -- there are several different ones. We haven't gotten further than that in our planning. We are not really good planners -- we tend to do things more on the spur of the moment.

Is it time for lobster yet? I guess not -- it's only 5 AM.

Just came across your blog and it is a great one. I love the resources section for small business. Hope you had a great time in Portland.
