I'm a librarian who's often asked for books on grants to start a business, buy a house etc. Your site is a great resource in helping to disabuse people of the notion that these grants are readily available. I attended a National Grant Conference seminar just to see what kind of stories they were telling. As an example of how they mislead people, I recall a presenter mentioning a grant for those who provide a spare bedroom to a homeless person. What he didn't mention (among other things) was that this program was only available in New York City (where spare bedrooms are pretty hard to come by.)

Your website is wonderful. Thank you. We've had a terrible experience with National Grants Conferences. STAY AWAY. When we complained at the "seminar," they called to offer us the materials for free in exchange for our silence. They did not come through on their promises twice--from their advertising or in their attempt to buy our silence. Their product, what we've seen of it, is not worth spitting on. Moreover, their price tag is mighty high. At any rate, we filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau in Mississippi and in New York (where they are based). The Director of Client Relations is Michael Burke. His phone number is 1-888-809-5074. I read in some of the articles linked to this site that consumers have a hard time getting a number to complain or investigate this company. Hope this helps.

I just wanted to take the time to commend you on your site. I had a subscription with National Grants Conferences last year to discover that they just linked into other sites. I have always been research oriented. Time is a major issue in my life, so I had no problem investing in the membership. Their claim is that all you have to do is submit you business plan to them and they would do the research for you. That certainly was not true with my experience and their service is not cheap. The information compiled on their site is information I had already run across during my own search. I will admit that the site is convenient for those that are not geared to researching.

You have to be an extremely sweet and wonderful person to provide this information for free. I am sure that your business is extremely profitable and since the site was already developed, you probably saw no need in withholding this information. For me personally, I am already aware of the information you are providing. But, I am sure others would find this site extremely valuable. Actually, I enjoy this site myself. If I was not capable of writing grants myself and lacked resources, I would definitely use your services. Fortunate for me, if I stumble, I have a cousin who is an excellent proposal writer. BTW-Have you seen the commercial on TV where a guy wears a jacket with question marks on it? He has this humungous book in his hands, that is selling for about $40.00, which is supposed to have all information necessary about Government Grants and Loans. He also says that any new business or continuing can get a grant for up to $25,000. He's only partially correct. This is the reason which prompted my research. I used a search engine which led me to your site and I found information that debunked this idiot's flagrantly basic remarks.

I went to one of those National Grants Conferences and they swore up and down that they could get me a small business grant for a fee-for-services of $699.99 for 12 months of services. They also stated that their services provde a wide array of assistance from locating the proper programs to applying successfully. They aid in the rearch of programs, assist in the accomplishing of the necessary forms and guide you through the application process. Now from what I just read from your web site, their is no grant money to start an individual business other than research and development for technology. Once again thank you for saving me $699.99

Hi! I'm 22 years old and recently graduated from college with a degree in Music Industry Studies and a minor in business. I interned with Columbia records and am currently an in-house temp. at Sony Music Entertainment. My love for music has inspired me to eventually own and run a music production co. and label. This is a very grand goal and quite intimidating, yet something I would very much love to achieve. I receive letters offering the information you feature here on this excellent site and contemplated sending for a book from one of these companies but decided to see what would come up in the search engine.
